The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 18th minute, SC Broeiras's Mário Barbosa ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cláudio Ferro. Cláudio Ferro yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. In the 30th minute of the match SC Broeiras got a corner. Selores FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jacinto Sá ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led SC Broeiras's Jacinto Sá to fire away a dangerous shot which Cláudio Ferro despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Abel Ferreira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 32nd minute of the match, but Cláudio Ferro made a huge save. Jorge Freitas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Xavier Teixeira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 33rd minute of play. In the 36thth minute of the game Mário Barbosa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Selores FC's Cláudio Ferro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Filipe Amorim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.
