Inácio Sarmento started the match with the kick off. In the 7th minute, Rui Matias had to leave the field with a concussion. 7 minutes into the game, Cristóvão Gaspar was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Darkness FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave F.C.Couto the free kick. Cristóvão Gaspar hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. After 13 minutes, Wilson Figueira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Darkness FC and the F.C.Couto players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Darkness FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilson Figueira to maneuver through the defense. Ricardo Padilha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Damião Poças tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Basílio Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ricardo Padilha came up free with the goalie in the 22nd minute, the Darkness FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Padilha couldn't finish the play. Basílio Veiga's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Damião Poças firmly grabbed it by the left post. After 25 played minutes F.C.Couto got a freekick which was hit by Serafim Padilha. Cristóvão Gaspar blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Damião Poças having to make a save. Ricardo Padilha received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Damião Poças came out and tried to block the shot, but Ricardo Padilha slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 31st minute. Jerónimo Valente took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 37th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Flávio Borges. Darkness FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The attack was good, but when Claudemiro Fontes in the 38th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ricardo Padilha in the 41st minute of play forced F.C.Couto's goalkeeper Damião Poças to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ricardo Padilha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Claudemiro Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Flávio Borges tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Darkness FC's Flávio Borges got control of the ball when Claudemiro Fontes tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Basílio Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 64 minutes into the match, F.C.Couto's goal looked a bit too open when Ricardo Padilha came free, but Damião Poças reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damião Poças took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ricardo Padilha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 83 minutes in the game, Claudemiro Fontes fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Flávio Borges having to interfere. After having played for 88 minutes, Basílio Veiga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Darkness FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Basílio Veiga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Basílio Veiga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Darkness FC's Ricardo Padilha got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 96 minutes into the match, Ricardo Padilha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Damião Poças. F.C.Couto's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ricardo Padilha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Darkness FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while F.C.Couto had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
