Seating: 1673, VIP seats: 144) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Eusébio Paiva got the match started through his kick off. SC Vinheiros's José Borba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save SC Vinheiros from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nuno Eiró in the 10th minute of play forced SC Vinheiros's goalkeeper José Borba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alfredo Ramires got free with José Borba in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. An unexpected shot in the 15th minute by Júlio Vilanova got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by SC Vinheiros's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Elias Castelo Branco was slow to take the kick. During this time Ervedinho's players had a chance to rest. Valério Casado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adolfo Mota in the 25th minute of play. 28 minutes into the match, Ervedinho's goal looked a bit too open when José Reis came free, but Valério Casado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 32 minutes into the match, Ervedinho's Alfredo Ramires sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that José Borba narrowly saved just below the crossbar. SC Vinheiros's José Borba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alfredo Ramires in the 34th minute of play. If Nuno Ramalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Júlio Vilanova stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. José Reis hit a great freekick 52 minutes into the match. José Borba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nuno Ramalho, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Eusébio Paiva struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Valério Casado didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Vinheiros. If Eusébio Paiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nuno Ramalho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Borba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. When Ervedinho's Nuno Ramalho in the 67th minute got a chance for a shot 67th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Vinheiros's goalie prevented a goal. In the 68th minute Nuno Ramalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Borba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 72 minutes of play, Ervedinho's Nuno Ramalho made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. José Borba was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nuno Ramalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Borba having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in SC Vinheiros's zone, Júlio Vilanova stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. José Borba came out of the goal and Júlio Vilanova tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Júlio Vilanova's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but José Borba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. When Nuno Ramalho came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Ervedinho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Ramalho couldn't finish the play. José Borba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nuno Ramalho in the 87th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Júlio Vilanova in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg José Borba saved SC Vinheiros from getting behind. In the 90th minute Nuno Ramalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Borba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, Júlio Vilanova got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. There was no doubt that Ervedinho were the better team. Ervedinho's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
