With a little luck, SLbenfica's Francisco Tavares got control of the ball when Saúl Aveiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, SLbenfica's Sandro Gueifão sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nélson Castilho narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Francisco Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustavo Borges, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. After 35 played minutes, Alvaro FC's Simão Poças shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Francisco Tavares came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Alvaro FC reached it. If António Henriques had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nélson Castilho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandro Gueifão in the 39th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, SLbenfica's Hélder Lisboa got a free kick in the 39th minute. Francisco Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustavo Borges in the 42nd minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gustavo Borges was the one to do the kick off. In the 55th minute, one of Alvaro FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Alvaro FC. After 62 played minutes Alvaro FC got a freekick which was hit by Duarte Tomé. Joaquim Borba took the ball and in the 66 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Nélson Castilho. Nélson Castilho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-3. Nélson Castilho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from António Henriques, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Francisco Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saúl Aveiro in the 74th minute of play. Francisco Tavares showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustavo Borges in the 82nd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sandro Gueifão got free with Nélson Castilho in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. António Henriques's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nélson Castilho read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Francisco Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Saúl Aveiro in the 92nd minute of play. A hard shot by Alexandre Sousa from long distance, 94 minutes into the match, got Nélson Castilho's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 95th minute, Carlos Guerreiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
