In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Louredo FC's goalkeeper Teodoro Gameiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Teodoro Gameiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Moniz in the 13th minute of the match. Henrique Lisboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Teodoro Gameiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albertino Cortez during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The Benfica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Cândido Domingues's late challenge caught a Louredo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cândido Domingues helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Benfica's Cândido Domingues got a free kick in the 42nd minute. António Bessa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Heitor Vasques in the 44th minute of play. After the first half Benfica were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Heitor Vasques to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match Vivaldo Belém sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but António Bessa skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Benfica booed when Louredo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Albertino Cortez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Louredo FC's Teodoro Gameiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cândido Domingues in the 85th minute of play. After having played for 89 minutes, Henrique Lisboa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Benfica's supporters crossed their fingers, but Henrique Lisboa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 92 minutes into the match, Benfica's Henrique Lisboa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Teodoro Gameiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Henrique Lisboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. David Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Benfica played a much better game than Louredo FC and deserved their victory. The Louredo FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
