Coelheiros FC's Tomás Pinheiro proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Coelheiros FC from getting a goal against them. In the 13thth minute of the game Henrique Lisboa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Coelheiros FC's Tomás Pinheiro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Henrique Lisboa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 15th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 20 played minutes Benfica got a freekick which was hit by Sérgio Oliveira. António Bessa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Gaspar, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. António Bessa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rui Aleixo in the 25th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Henrique Lisboa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Benfica's supporters rose to their feet, but Henrique Lisboa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tomás Pinheiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Henrique Lisboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Tomás Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cândido Domingues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. In the 38th minute, Jorge Gaspar hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Coelheiros FC getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. After a defensive mix-up in Coelheiros FC's zone, Henrique Lisboa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tomás Pinheiro came out of the goal and Henrique Lisboa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rui Aleixo to make the kick off. Henrique Lisboa scored 2-1 in the 51st match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tomás Pinheiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. When Cândido Domingues came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Benfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cândido Domingues couldn't finish the play. Benfica's António Bessa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rui Aleixo in the 65th minute of play. António Bessa made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Jorge Gaspar sent off a good shot on target. Tomás Pinheiro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Henrique Lisboa went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. Rui Aleixo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without António Bessa having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henrique Lisboa in the 86th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tomás Pinheiro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 90th minute, Henrique Lisboa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 94 minutes into the match, Benfica's goalkeeper António Bessa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jorge Gaspar. 96 minutes into the match, Coelheiros FC's goal looked a bit too open when Henrique Lisboa came free, but Tomás Pinheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. There was no doubt that Benfica were the better team. Benfica's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
