Egídio Pacheco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 11thth minute tested the skills of Leandro Paiva when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Leandro Paiva made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacob Loureiro in the 22nd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Egídio Pacheco notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of SC Benfica's Leandro Paiva. Leandro Paiva was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The throw-in from Germano Vilhena in the 35th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by SC Benfica's Geraldo Bandeira. Leandro Paiva made a fantastic save in the 44th minute, when Egídio Pacheco sent off a good shot on target.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Geraldo Bandeira to make the kick off. A sloppy throw-in by Germano Vilhena in the 61st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by SC Benfica's Geraldo Bandeira. SC Benfica's Luís Castilho got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Egídio Pacheco struck a weak shot in the 66th minute. Leandro Paiva didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Trapiche. Afonso Ramires charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Afonso Ramires the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, SC Benfica's Afonso Ramires got a free kick in the 72nd minute. SC Benfica's Leandro Paiva played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacob Loureiro in the 81st minute of play. Geraldo Bandeira might have been able to make a better finish in the 86th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Belchior Salgado. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Geraldo Bandeira ran back to his position shaking his head. SC Benfica's attentive Geraldo Bandeira managed to snatch the ball when Germano Vilhena made a throw-in in the 91st minute of the game. Leandro Paiva showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Egídio Pacheco in the 96th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the SC Benfica players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Trapiche.
