Plácido Campelo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Jorge Gama came up free with the goalie in the 8th minute, the Auto Esticões fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jorge Gama couldn't finish the play. During the 11th minute of the match Delfim Vilas Boas completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Delfim Vilas Boas a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 11th match minute, SC Carragosa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delfim Vilas Boas to maneuver through the defense. If Jorge Gama had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Plácido Peseiro fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Carragosa's protests and gave Plácido Peseiro a yellow card for diving instead. Plácido Peseiro kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. Emanuel Mourão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Gama in the 21st minute of the match. After 21 played minutes SC Carragosa got a freekick which was hit by Juliano Carneiro. After having played for 24 minutes, Plácido Campelo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Auto Esticões's supporters crossed their fingers, but Plácido Campelo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Norberto Conde hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Teodoro Magalhães didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredo Montenegro went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The audience thought a goal was coming when Plácido Campelo got free with Emanuel Mourão in the 43rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Alfredo Montenegro stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the SC Carragosa defense, Plácido Campelo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Emanuel Mourão. The SC Carragosa fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Emanuel Mourão should have stopped the shot. Jorge Gama received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Emanuel Mourão tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Alfredo Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 63 played minutes Auto Esticões got a freekick which was hit by Angélico Barroso. When Henrique Colaço fell near the penalty area in the 68th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Auto Esticões's protests and gave Henrique Colaço a yellow card for diving instead. Henrique Colaço hit a great freekick 68 minutes into the match. Plácido Peseiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Teodoro Magalhães. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Plácido Peseiro ran back to his position shaking his head. José Laureano's late challenge caught a Auto Esticões's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. After having played for 78 minutes, Jorge Gama managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Emanuel Mourão made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Gama in the 92nd minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
