The referee showed Aparício Azevedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 17th minute, Aparício Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sebastião Assis kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. In the 27thth minute of the game Gusmão Bettencourt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting CP's Hermínio Martins was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gusmão Bettencourt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leal Tinoco in the 36th minute of play forced Sporting CP's goalkeeper Hermínio Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jordão Vilanova hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. After a defensive mix-up in RechousaFC's zone, Carlos Pimentel stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Duarte Gomes came out of the goal and Carlos Pimentel tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hermínio Martins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leal Tinoco in the 44th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Leal Tinoco made a kick off. In the 64th minute, Virgílio Damásio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 67 minutes into the match, Gusmão Bettencourt had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hermínio Martins. Sporting CP's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gusmão Bettencourt was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Filinto Valentim had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 75th minute, Jordão Vilanova hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A sloppy throw-in by Sebastião Assis in the 78th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Sporting CP's Filinto Valentim. The supporters of Sporting CP booed when RechousaFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jordão Vilanova didn't get a good kick on the ball. 81 minutes into the match, Sporting CP's Carlos Pimentel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Duarte Gomes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gusmão Bettencourt took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hermínio Martins. Hermínio Martins dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. 90 minutes into the game, Jordão Vilanova was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. RechousaFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting CP the free kick. Jordão Vilanova hit a great freekick 91 minutes into the match. Aparício Padilha was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 92nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Carlos Pimentel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. RechousaFC were victorious despite being under pressure from Sporting CP for much of the match.
