In the 3rd minute Rubim Ponte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tiago Damásio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tiago Damásio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubim Ponte in the 4th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Rubim Ponte put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Tiago Damásio. After having played for 19 minutes, Lúcio Alcântara managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GD Ribeirão's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lúcio Alcântara was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sever Chiliman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Peter Zander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Leões de Vila de Rei defense, Rubim Ponte kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tiago Damásio. The Leões de Vila de Rei fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tiago Damásio should have stopped the shot. In the 32nd minute, one of Leões de Vila de Rei:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Leões de Vila de Rei. Tiago Damásio didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rubim Ponte went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Tiago Damásio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rubim Ponte, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the match, Leões de Vila de Rei's goal looked a bit too open when Rubim Ponte came free, but Tiago Damásio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Leões de Vila de Rei players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. GD Ribeirão were winning 0-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. George Best was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, GD Ribeirão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lúcio Alcântara to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Sever Chiliman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Leões de Vila de Rei's supporters rose to their feet, but Sever Chiliman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Peter Zander breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Tiago Damásio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rubim Ponte in the 57th minute. Leonardo Teixeira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Tiago Damásio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ukko Määttänen fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tiago Damásio having to interfere. Tiago Damásio didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when GD Ribeirão's Rubim Ponte shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 0-5 in the ordered_time% minute. Tiago Damásio stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rubim Ponte's shot from short distance in the 69th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ukko Määttänen in the 72nd minute of play forced Leões de Vila de Rei's goalkeeper Tiago Damásio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rubim Ponte struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Tiago Damásio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GD Ribeirão. George Best might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Peter Zander. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. George Best ran back to his position shaking his head. 79 minutes into the match, Rubim Ponte notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Leões de Vila de Rei's Tiago Damásio. Tiago Damásio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. GD Ribeirão's Egídio Taborda was substituted for Eduardo Semedo. In the 88th minute, Rubim Ponte got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Tiago Damásio was a little too slow when Rubim Ponte got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 92nd minute. The score was now 0-8. George Best fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peter Zander having to interfere. GD Ribeirão played a much better game than Leões de Vila de Rei and deserved their victory. The Leões de Vila de Rei players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
