The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the game, Eduardo Semedo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. GD Ribeirão's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave benfica the free kick. Eduardo Semedo hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. Lúcio Alcântara struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Viriato Prates didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GD Ribeirão. After a rather tough play, benfica's Laurentino Lima got a free kick in the 8th minute. In the 9th match minute, GD Ribeirão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leonardo Teixeira to maneuver through the defense. 15 minutes into the match, Rubim Ponte had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Viriato Prates. benfica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Rubim Ponte was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When Alexandre Severo came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the benfica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Severo couldn't finish the play. Peter Zander made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cassiano Guerra in the 21st minute. In the 24th minute, Rubim Ponte left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The GD Ribeirão fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. In the 28th minute Lúcio Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Viriato Prates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lúcio Alcântara scored 0-3 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Viriato Prates, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Lúcio Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Viriato Prates tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 41st minute Rubim Ponte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Viriato Prates saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cassiano Guerra got free with Peter Zander in the 44th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Enzo Távora fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored benfica's protests and gave Enzo Távora a yellow card for diving instead. Lúcio Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Disappointed in the 0-4 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Alexandre Severo made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Lúcio Alcântara reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Viriato Prates. The goal made the score 0-6. benfica's Viriato Prates proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save benfica from getting a goal against them. Peter Zander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alexandre Severo in the 59th minute of the match. Rubim Ponte could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Viriato Prates made a huge save. Viriato Prates was a little too slow when Lúcio Alcântara got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 62nd minute. The score was now 0-7. Rubim Ponte received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Viriato Prates came out and tried to block the shot, but Rubim Ponte slotted it home off the left post making it 0-9 in the 71st minute. Lúcio Alcântara did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-10 to the left of a surprised Viriato Prates 74 minutes into the match. Viriato Prates showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rubim Ponte, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Peter Zander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cassiano Guerra in the 80th minute of play. Lúcio Alcântara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Viriato Prates made a huge save. Peter Zander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alexandre Severo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Peter Zander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lázaro Freitas in the 86th minute of the match. GD Ribeirão's Peter Zander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alexandre Severo in the 88th minute of play. Viriato Prates made a fantastic save in the 96th minute, when Rubim Ponte sent off a good shot on target. The benfica fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. GD Ribeirão were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
