Rubim Coelho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amílcar Cunha, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 50 minutes, Fabrício Lousada mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ACR Comeira and the Mini àguias players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, ACR Comeira's Fabrício Lousada got a free kick in the 50th minute. In the 57th minute, ACR Comeira's Alberto Madeira seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Alberto Madeira the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of ACR Comeira protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Alberto Madeira had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch.
