Júlio Magalhães's late challenge caught a D João I's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Júlio Magalhães helped the player get up and apologised. In the 4th match minute, Cancelo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Magalhães to maneuver through the defense. An unexpected shot in the 10th minute by Diego Severo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Isidoro Linhares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 15th match minute, Cancelo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emanuel Branco to maneuver through the defense. In the 18th minute, Adelino Aleixo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cancelo FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. The D João I fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Diego Severo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Diego Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 33 minutes into the game, Emanuel Branco was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cancelo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave D João I the free kick. In the 37th match minute, Cancelo FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Magalhães to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 41 minutes, Isidoro Linhares took a quick shot and it went in 2-1 without a chance for Abel Amorim to make any attempt to save it. With his leg Abel Amorim managed to avoid a goal in the 47thth minute, when D João I's Diego Severo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

The wind increased when Rui Castro made the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, D João I's Rodolfo Tomé got a free kick in the 51st minute. Cancelo FC's Abel Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isidoro Linhares in the 54th minute of play. In the 57th minute, Rui Castro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ivo Sarmento's late challenge caught a Cancelo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Abel Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Isidoro Linhares in the 64th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 68th minute, Rui Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cancelo FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Rui Castro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Renato Teixeira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 69th match minute, D João I was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rodolfo Tomé to maneuver through the defense. Rui Castro kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. After 74 played minutes Cancelo FC got a freekick which was hit by Emanuel Branco. Renato Teixeira came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Cancelo FC's Adelino Aleixo. But to his dismay, Adelino Aleixo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-2. 85 minutes into the match, Cancelo FC's goal looked a bit too open when Diego Severo came free, but Abel Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cancelo FC's Abel Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Tomé in the 87th minute of play. Rodolfo Tomé charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Rodolfo Tomé the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Cancelo FC booed when D João I was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rodolfo Tomé didn't get a good kick on the ball. Despite being the better team, D João I failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
