The Benfica fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Olívio Torcato sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Benfica booed when FC Strong was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eduardo Aveiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. FC Strong's Jairo Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Pinto in the 30th minute of play. Francisco Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo Freitas having to interfere. In the 33rd match minute, FC Strong was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sílvio Bento to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Sarmento in the 34th minute of play forced FC Strong's goalkeeper Jairo Freitas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Máximo Gentil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Leiria having to interfere. In the 39th minute Francisco Sarmento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jairo Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flávio Correia scored 1-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manuel Leiria, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Manuel Leiria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Máximo Gentil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francisco Sarmento made a kick off. 52 minutes into the match, FC Strong's goalkeeper Jairo Freitas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by António Pinto. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Jairo Freitas successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Jairo Freitas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Olívio Torcato, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Francisco Sarmento received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Jairo Freitas came out and tried to block the shot, but Francisco Sarmento slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 62nd minute. 66 minutes into the match, Filipe Mendes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jairo Freitas, 1-4. In the 70th minute Flávio Correia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Leiria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Flávio Correia took the ball and in the 73 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Manuel Leiria. Manuel Leiria dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. Manuel Leiria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Máximo Gentil, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jairo Freitas was a little too slow when Francisco Sarmento got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 3-5. Francisco Sarmento hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Ademar Freire kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Máximo Gentil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Leiria having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Benfica had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
