Rui Lessa's late challenge caught a Almeidas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rui Lessa helped the player get up and apologised. MTK's Vladimiro Lages played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Bettencourt in the 7th minute of play. The audience was convinced that José Bettencourt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Vladimiro Lages was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. 11 minutes into the match, Almeidas FC's José Bettencourt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Vladimiro Lages narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 23 minutes of play, Almeidas FC's Damião Pimentel made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vladimiro Lages was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 27th minute José Bettencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vladimiro Lages saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 34th minute, Eurico Quental hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. MTK's Vladimiro Lages played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eurico Quental in the 37th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eurico Quental in the 42nd minute of play forced MTK's goalkeeper Vladimiro Lages to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jesualdo Faria recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 46 played minutes Almeidas FC got a freekick which was hit by Jesualdo Faria.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and José Bettencourt made a kick off. Hélder Brochado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucílio Benevides having to interfere. In the 56th minute of the game, Jesualdo Faria landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hélder Brochado during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eurico Quental kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Lucílio Benevides showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Santiago in the 62nd minute of the match. After 75 played minutes MTK got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Santiago. After a rather tough play, Almeidas FC's José Bettencourt got a free kick in the 76th minute. Eurico Quental received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Vladimiro Lages tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eurico Quental in the 91st minute of play forced MTK's goalkeeper Vladimiro Lages to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vladimiro Lages made an important save on a dangerous shot by Eurico Quental in the 95th minute.
