When Pedro Barroso came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the GD Chaves fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Barroso couldn't finish the play. Pedro Barroso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valério Azenha having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Romão Quinaz put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Valério Azenha. In the 21st minute, Hélio Leiria ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gregório Bentes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. The wind increased when Pedro Barroso made the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute GD Chaves were awarded a corner. Belchior Ribeiro went to the cornerflag to take it. Israel Bernardes thought of kicking away a contribution in front of goal but messed it up so badly that the ball went to the right of an astonished Valério Azenha, a very annoying self made goal in the 55th minute which led to 2-1. Valério Azenha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Romão Quinaz in the 61st minute of the match. Vladimiro Lameirinhas charged in rather forcefully in the 62nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
