The Luso fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Manuel Salvado blasted a shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Inácio Bentes having to make a save. If Hugo Montenegro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alexandre Cerqueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Bentes having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Alcino Esteves notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of Mattas's Inácio Bentes. Inácio Bentes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. When Luso's Alcino Esteves in the 33rd minute got a chance for a shot 33rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Mattas's goalie prevented a goal. In the 37th minute of the match, Manuel Salvado got a very nice opportunity to score, but Inácio Bentes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Alexandre Cerqueira received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Inácio Bentes came out and tried to block the shot, but Alexandre Cerqueira slotted it home off the left post making it 4-0 in the 38th minute. When Mattas's Ricardo Madeira in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Luso's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Luso booed when Mattas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivan Ramires didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alexandre Cerqueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Inácio Bentes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

Manuel Salvado struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Inácio Bentes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Luso. Inácio Bentes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alcino Esteves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexandre Cerqueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Inácio Bentes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ricardo Prestes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Mattas's Hipólito Mendes got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Alcino Esteves took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Inácio Bentes. Inácio Bentes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. Inácio Bentes stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alcino Esteves's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Mattas's Inácio Bentes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Salvado in the 74th minute of play. After having played for 75 minutes, Alcino Esteves managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Luso's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alcino Esteves was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexandre Cerqueira in the 78th minute of play forced Mattas's goalkeeper Inácio Bentes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Alcino Esteves came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Luso fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alcino Esteves couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Mattas defense, Alcino Esteves kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Inácio Bentes. The Mattas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Inácio Bentes should have stopped the shot. Alexandre Cerqueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Alcino Esteves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Inácio Bentes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Hipólito Mendes fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mattas's protests and gave Hipólito Mendes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 91st minute, Hipólito Mendes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alexandre Cerqueira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inácio Bentes having to interfere.
