Spectators: 7706 (Terracing: 5783, Seating: 1773, VIP seats: 150) Jaime Quinaz made the kick off and thus started the match. 3 minutes into the match, Sporting FC's goal looked a bit too open when Amadeu Leite came free, but Israel Lustosa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the last second Angelo Saldanha throw himself and got hold of the ball when Virgílio Baía in the 13thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jaime Quinaz in the 14th minute of play forced Sporting FC's goalkeeper Israel Lustosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Israel Lustosa came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Giraldes's Amável Balsemão. But to his dismay, Amável Balsemão quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Laurentino Calado managed to get in a good position for a shot. Giraldes's supporters rose to their feet, but Laurentino Calado was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Israel Lustosa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 28th minute Laurentino Calado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Israel Lustosa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Israel Lustosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amável Balsemão in the 29th minute of play. Adélio Valido managed to, on his own, get straight through Giraldes's defense and in the 37th minute placed the ball to the left of Angelo Saldanha. 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Virgílio Baía got free with Angelo Saldanha in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 42nd minute, Laureano Malta fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Israel Lustosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Quinaz in the 44th minute of the match. Laureano Malta was extremely unlucky when he, in the 46th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. The supporters of Sporting FC booed when Giraldes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eliseu Casado didn't get a good kick on the ball.

The wind increased when Laureano Malta made the kick off in the second half. Eliseu Casado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Israel Lustosa made a huge save. Israel Lustosa was out of position in the 53 minute of play, and Amável Balsemão capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Amável Balsemão really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Laureano Malta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Angelo Saldanha tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Virgílio Baía had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 70 minutes, André Moita mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sporting FC and the Giraldes players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Sporting FC getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. André Moita hit a great ball. Israel Lustosa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Quinaz in the 71st minute of play. After 78 minutes of play, Sporting FC's Laureano Malta made it 3-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Angelo Saldanha was left in no man's land by his defense there! André Moita took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Angelo Saldanha. Angelo Saldanha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-2. Israel Lustosa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laurentino Calado in the 89th minute. Angelo Saldanha showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Virgílio Baía in the 91st minute of the match. In the 92nd minute, Amável Neves hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Sporting FC fully deserved thier win.
