With a little luck, Sport Terceira e Benfica's Lucílio Baía got control of the ball when João Eanes tried to sneak it across the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when João Eanes got free with Lucílio Baía in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. João Eanes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 29th minute of the match, but Lucílio Baía made a huge save. Lucílio Baía showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Noel Quintanilha, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Graciano Ferro's late challenge caught a Odivelas FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Graciano Ferro helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Odivelas FC booed when Sport Terceira e Benfica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Graciano Ferro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sport Terceira e Benfica's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Noel Quintanilha 43 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

After having played for 54 minutes, Noel Quintanilha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Odivelas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Noel Quintanilha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 64th minute Samuel Marinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nivaldo Lucena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Graciano Ferro was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 66 minutes had been played. In the 67th minute, Graciano Ferro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Rafael Leite was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 69th minute. Sport Terceira e Benfica's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Odivelas FC's Noel Quintanilha got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
