Spectators: 7435 (Terracing: 5500, Seating: 1781, VIP seats: 154) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when John Wayne got the match started through his kick off. After a rather tough play, Red Star Monção's Lourenço Vieira got a free kick in the 5th minute. In the 11th minute John Wayne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicente Guerreiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 23 minutes into the match, Red Star Monção's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Noronha came free, but Osvaldo Alvarenga reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Osvaldo Alvarenga didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Miguel Noronha went, in the 23rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Lancao defense, Andaka Babalov kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vicente Guerreiro. The Lancao fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vicente Guerreiro should have stopped the shot. Osvaldo Alvarenga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Noronha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Vicente Guerreiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John Wayne in the 36th minute of play. After 37 minutes of play, Red Star Monção's John Wayne made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vicente Guerreiro was left in no man's land by his defense there! John Wayne hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Osvaldo Alvarenga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Miguel Noronha in the 41st minute of play. In the 45th minute, Andaka Babalov hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 47 played minutes Red Star Monção got a freekick which was hit by Vasco Resende. Lancao made a substitution. Evandro Onofre replaced Sebastião Santarém. In the 48th match minute, Red Star Monção was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vasco Resende to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Lancao's Miguel Noronha slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Osvaldo Alvarenga. That made the score 2-2 after 49 minutes of play.

The wind increased when Miguel Noronha made the kick off in the second half. Vicente Guerreiro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luís Oliveira in the 56th minute of play. 58 minutes into the match, Miguel Noronha had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Osvaldo Alvarenga. Red Star Monção's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Miguel Noronha was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Luís Oliveira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Red Star Monção's supporters rose to their feet, but Luís Oliveira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vicente Guerreiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 63 played minutes Lancao got a freekick which was hit by Valentim Caldeira. Vicente Guerreiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Oliveira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In a very dangerous position, a player in Red Star Monção fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 66th minute. Penalty! Germano Póvoas walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 70th minute, André França hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Baltasar Jordão hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. John Wayne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vicente Guerreiro having to interfere. Osvaldo Alvarenga took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ramiro Salazar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lancao's defense didn't have a chance, in the 89th minute, when John Wayne scored to the left of an out of position Vicente Guerreiro, making the score, 3-4. The supporters of Lancao booed when Red Star Monção was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lourenço Vieira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vicente Guerreiro made a fantastic save in the 97th minute, when John Wayne sent off a good shot on target. In the 98th match minute, Lancao was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Baltasar Jordão to maneuver through the defense. Miguel Noronha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 102nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Red Star Monção supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Red Star Monção would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
