Aldaír Trigueiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Filinto Rebocho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquim Ruas might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Isidoro Gusmão. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joaquim Ruas ran back to his position shaking his head. Adelino Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. G.D. 1º de Maio's Aldaír Trigueiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filinto Rebocho in the 15th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Joaquim Ruas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Valério Lessa fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Edrosa's protests and gave Valério Lessa a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Edrosa getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Valério Lessa hit a great ball. Joaquim Ruas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidoro Gusmão having to interfere. If Adelino Lopes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The long shot by Isidro Vilalobos in the 27th minute really tested Isidoro Gusmão's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. With an all-out effort, G.D. 1º de Maio's Isidoro Gusmão threw himself towards the right post 31 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Adelino Lopes, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A very nice done corner allowed Adelino Lopes to score against Isidoro Gusmão in Edrosa's goal. 1-0 after 33 minutes. Aldaír Trigueiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hermenegildo Veríssimo in the 37th minute of the match. In the 40th minute, Nivaldo Caneira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joaquim Ruas who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 46thth minute tested the skills of Isidoro Gusmão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Joaquim Ruas made the kick off in the second half. Adelino Lopes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Joaquim Ruas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 66 minutes had been played when some careless play by Edrosa's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Nivaldo Caneira was slow to take the kick. During this time G.D. 1º de Maio's players had a chance to rest. In the 66th minute, Reinaldo Lage hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 68th minute, Teodoro Maia left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Edrosa fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Isidoro Gusmão showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joaquim Ruas, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. 2-1 became the score in the 77th minute when Jaime Amaral elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. When Jaime Amaral came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the G.D. 1º de Maio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jaime Amaral couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in Edrosa's zone, Joaquim Ruas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isidoro Gusmão came out of the goal and Joaquim Ruas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aldaír Trigueiro made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Hermenegildo Veríssimo sent off a good shot on target. After 86 played minutes G.D. 1º de Maio got a freekick which was hit by Reinaldo Lage. In the 91st minute of the match Nivaldo Caneira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Isidoro Gusmão showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Aldaír Trigueiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Filinto Rebocho, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joaquim Ruas in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Isidoro Gusmão saved Edrosa from getting behind. There was no doubt that G.D. 1º de Maio were the better team. G.D. 1º de Maio's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
