An unexpectedly hard shot by Jairo Semedo in the 7th minute of play forced Os Lagartos's goalkeeper Gusmão Vilarinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gusmão Vilarinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Teodoro Maia, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Amílcar Ribas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isidoro Gusmão having to interfere. In the 12th minute Jairo Semedo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gusmão Vilarinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 played minutes Os Lagartos got a freekick which was hit by José Vilaverde. Os Lagartos's Gusmão Vilarinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filinto Rebocho in the 26th minute of play. After 27 played minutes Os Lagartos got a freekick which was hit by André Falcão. 34 minutes into the match, Os Lagartos's goal looked a bit too open when Hermenegildo Veríssimo came free, but Gusmão Vilarinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Os Lagartos defense, Hermenegildo Veríssimo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gusmão Vilarinho. The Os Lagartos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gusmão Vilarinho should have stopped the shot. After the first half Edrosa were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Amílcar Ribas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. José Vilaverde charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed José Vilaverde the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Os Lagartos getting a freekick after 53 minutes play. José Vilaverde hit a great ball. The supporters of Os Lagartos booed when Edrosa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Basílio Palma didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jairo Semedo charged in rather forcefully in the 59th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jairo Semedo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Edrosa's Jairo Semedo got a free kick in the 59th minute. The Os Lagartos fans' excitement grew in the 60th match minute when Os Lagartos's Amílcar Ribas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Hermenegildo Veríssimo came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Edrosa fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hermenegildo Veríssimo couldn't finish the play. Gusmão Vilarinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Teodoro Maia in the 66th minute. Gusmão Vilarinho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jairo Semedo in the 69th minute of play. After 71 minutes, Amílcar Ribas made it 2-2 with a short kick to the right side. Edrosa's Isidoro Gusmão tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the match had been going on for 98 minutes, Edrosa's Hipólito Telinhos got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gusmão Vilarinho. The Edrosa supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Edrosa would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
