Homer FC's Norberto Fraga got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 43rd minute, Teodoro Padilha reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Zarco Couto. The goal made the score 3-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

Adalberto Sarmento's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zarco Couto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 59th minute of play. Zarco Couto stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Teodoro Padilha's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. Zarco Couto didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Américo Coelho went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. The Manhente FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. Zarco Couto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rubim Peralta in the 91st minute of play. 92 minutes had been played when some careless play by Homer FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Adalberto Sarmento was slow to take the kick. During this time Manhente FC's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Manhente FC's corner Adalberto Sarmento fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Zarco Couto quite easily take care of the ball. Américo Coelho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Zarco Couto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Homer FC getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Claudemiro Palha hit a great ball. When Adalberto Sarmento came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Manhente FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Adalberto Sarmento couldn't finish the play. Homer FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
