A sloppy throw-in by Carlos Frois in the 5th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Aveiro FC's Gaspar Linhares. Fernando Rijo's late challenge caught a White Star Barreiro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fernando Rijo helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Aveiro FC's Fernando Rijo got a free kick in the 7th minute. Gil Gouveia made an important save on a dangerous shot by Guilherme Alvarenga in the 10th minute. Guilherme Alvarenga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 17th minute, Gaspar Linhares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After having played for 18 minutes, Gaspar Linhares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Aveiro FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gaspar Linhares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. A collision led to Aveiro FC getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Vicente Quintanilha hit a great ball. In the 21st minute, Tiago Ventura ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Plácido Azenha was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Gil Gouveia made a fantastic save in the 31st minute, when Guilherme Alvarenga sent off a good shot on target. 34 minutes into the match, Gaspar Linhares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Plácido Azenha. White Star Barreiro's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gaspar Linhares was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. Gil Gouveia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Braga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Plácido Azenha didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Silvano Simões went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gaspar Linhares in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Plácido Azenha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The White Star Barreiro players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Aveiro FC were winning 0-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Daniel Braga made a kick off. Fernando Rijo hit a great freekick 50 minutes into the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Guilherme Alvarenga in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gil Gouveia prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 55th match minute, Aveiro FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Rijo to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, Aveiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Mariano Aires came free, but Gil Gouveia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, White Star Barreiro's Juliano Parente got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Amado Macena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Silvano Simões was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 65th minute. Aveiro FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. With his leg Plácido Azenha managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when Aveiro FC's Gaspar Linhares fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 67 minutes into the match, Aveiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Braga came free, but Gil Gouveia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Amado Macena hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Tiago Ventura hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. 77 minutes into the match, Gaspar Linhares had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Plácido Azenha. Plácido Azenha was out of position in the 84 minute of play, and Gaspar Linhares capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Gaspar Linhares really showed his touch with that goal: 0-5. Silvano Simões sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 90 played minutes Aveiro FC got a freekick which was hit by Vicente Quintanilha. In the 92nd minute, Guilherme Alvarenga made a precise shot to the right of Gil Gouveia. Aveiro FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. Chants of Aveiro FC echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as White Star Barreiro had held the ball for most of the match.
