In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind SC Azinhaleite's goalkeeper Benedito Tomé, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 22 minutes into the match, SC Azinhaleite's Hélder Santos sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Januário Calado narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Sílvio Pedroso's late challenge caught a Mogadouro's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After having played for 39 minutes, Adelino Carrasqueira managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adelino Carrasqueira was the one to do the kick off. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hélder Santos got free with Januário Calado in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Emanuel Telinhos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adelino Carrasqueira in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benedito Tomé prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonardo Fragoso during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Vladimiro Lencastre was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 57th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Severino Setúbal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Benedito Tomé was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Severino Setúbal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benedito Tomé having to interfere.
