The SC Macieira fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Cerqueira should have stopped the shot. 19 minutes into the game, Marialva S.C.'s Juvenal Campos nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half Marialva S.C. were leading 0-7. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Manuel Ruas made a kick off. Juvenal Campos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. David Cerqueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 53 minutes into the match, Catarino Cardoso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fernando Tinoco. Marialva S.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Catarino Cardoso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. The Marialva S.C. fans' excitement grew in the 59th match minute when Marialva S.C.'s Manuel Ruas looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-8 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 63 minutes, Manuel Ruas made it 1-9 with a short kick to the right side. SC Macieira's David Cerqueira tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 67th minute, Juvenal Campos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. David Cerqueira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-10. The audience was convinced that Manuel Ruas's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but David Cerqueira was relentless in the 73rd minute of the game. Manuel Ruas kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. Marialva S.C.'s Fernando Tinoco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Catarino Cardoso in the 79th minute of play. In the 81st minute António Leiria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but David Cerqueira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manuel Ruas got free with David Cerqueira in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 86 minutes into the match, Marialva S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Catarino Cardoso came free, but Fernando Tinoco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
