Spectators: 8040 (Terracing: 6031, Seating: 1849, VIP seats: 160) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Jorge Palma got the match started through his kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sebastião Nascimento during the 6th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 6 played minutes Celtic FC got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião Nascimento. Sandro Caires struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Nickolaj Arbild didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vargens FC. Torgny Mellin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aldaír Regueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Vargens FC's Torgny Mellin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aldaír Regueira in the 11th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aldaír Regueira in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Torgny Mellin saved Vargens FC from getting behind. When Paulo Pádua came up free with the goalie in the 17th minute, the Vargens FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Pádua couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Paulo Pádua managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vargens FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Pádua was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nickolaj Arbild breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Torgny Mellin made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Tomás Salgado sent off a good shot on target. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Paulo Pádua managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vargens FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Paulo Pádua was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nickolaj Arbild breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Celtic FC's Faraj Al Rifaee got a free kick in the 30th minute. Jorge Palma might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Torgny Mellin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jorge Palma ran back to his position shaking his head. Jorge Palma could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Torgny Mellin made a huge save. In the 39th minute of the match Vargens FC got a corner. Celtic FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Teodoro Vilela ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Teodoro Vilela got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Nickolaj Arbild quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 41 minutes into the match, Jorge Palma dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Torgny Mellin, 1-0. In the 43rd match minute, Vargens FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nicolas Ramos to maneuver through the defense. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sandro Caires to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Jorge Palma had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Torgny Mellin. Vargens FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jorge Palma was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. After a rather tough play, Celtic FC's Tomás Salgado got a free kick in the 62nd minute. In the 77th minute Jorge Palma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Torgny Mellin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nickolaj Arbild made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandro Caires in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute of the match Vargens FC got a corner. Celtic FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Teodoro Vilela ran over to the corner to take the kick. Nickolaj Arbild took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sandro Caires, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Norberto Sabrosa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Torgny Mellin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aldaír Regueira in the 93rd minute of play. Torgny Mellin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jorge Palma in the 94th minute of the match.
