The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Olavo Eanes was a little too slow when Bonifacio Aznar got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 5th minute. The score was now 1-0. If Ferenc van Nistelrooij had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. S.João de Areias's Bonifacio Aznar got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Olavo Eanes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bonifacio Aznar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 16th minute, Genizio's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ferenc van Nistelrooij fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Ferenc van Nistelrooij received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Olavo Eanes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 24 minutes into the match, Fatih Tekke had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olavo Eanes. Genizio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fatih Tekke was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 27th minute, Ferenc van Nistelrooij left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The S.João de Areias fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. After 32 minutes, Bruno Ramos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Genizio and the S.João de Areias players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 32nd minute, Bruno Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Olavo Eanes stood somewhat misplaced when Bonifacio Aznar came free in front of goal and shot 4-0 to the left of him in the 34 minute. Ferenc van Nistelrooij could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Olavo Eanes made a huge save. Ferenc van Nistelrooij sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Genizio's Gil Corte-Real got a free kick in the 43rd minute. Olavo Eanes made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Ferenc van Nistelrooij sent off a good shot on target. If Bonifacio Aznar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Ferenc van Nistelrooij made the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the Genizio defense, Ferenc van Nistelrooij kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olavo Eanes. The Genizio fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olavo Eanes should have stopped the shot. Bonifacio Aznar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olavo Eanes having to interfere. Ferenc van Nistelrooij took the ball and in the 58 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Olavo Eanes. Olavo Eanes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 6-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Bonifacio Aznar managed to get in a good position for a shot. S.João de Areias's supporters rose to their feet, but Bonifacio Aznar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olavo Eanes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 65 minutes into the match, Bonifacio Aznar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olavo Eanes. Genizio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bonifacio Aznar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 7-0. Normando Lages's late challenge caught a Genizio's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Normando Lages helped the player get up and apologised. After 69 played minutes S.João de Areias got a freekick which was hit by Normando Lages. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Éder Carvalhal got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 75 minutes into the game, Ferenc van Nistelrooij cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Olavo Eanes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bonifacio Aznar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 92 minutes into the match, Bonifacio Aznar had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olavo Eanes. Genizio's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bonifacio Aznar was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 10-0. S.João de Areias's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
