With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ivan Aguiar in the 12th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Afonso Pádua saved Rio Meão from getting behind. Afonso Pádua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mário Espírito Santo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mário Espírito Santo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Pádua having to interfere. Vladimiro Carvalhais recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 21st play minutes Ivan Aguiar shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Afonso Pádua and just under the crossbar into goal. Afonso Pádua showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivan Aguiar, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. In the 26th match minute, Rio Meão was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amílcar Guerreiro to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute, Rio Meão's Reinaldo Moutinho ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fred Holting. In the 31stth minute of the game Ivan Aguiar who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rio Meão's Afonso Pádua was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ivan Aguiar in the 34th minute of play forced Rio Meão's goalkeeper Afonso Pádua to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fred Holting showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sidónio Maciel, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sidónio Maciel made a kick off. Rodrigo Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Vladimiro Carvalhais had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rio Meão's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 90th minute, Valério Gusmão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Afonso Pádua showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivan Aguiar in the 92nd minute of the match. Rodrigo Montenegro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 94thth minute tested the skills of Afonso Pádua when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
