Dewa Cinta made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sten Friberger in the 23rd minute. 24 minutes into the match, FCPorto's goalkeeper Dewa Cinta had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Oscar Cardoso. The supporters of U.C.Olhalvo booed when FCPorto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastião Queiroga didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30th minute, Valério Brites fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Dewa Cinta, passed just outside the right post. When the match clock showed 30 minutes, the score became 3-0 when Oscar Cardoso sped through FCPorto's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dewa Cinta. 36 minutes had been played when some careless play by FCPorto's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. After a rather tough play, FCPorto's Hamilton Bacelar got a free kick in the 44th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Teodoro Cavaco was the one to do the kick off. In the 77th minute, Valério Brites ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dewa Cinta was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. Dewa Cinta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolfo Leite in the 91st minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. U.C.Olhalvo had played much better football throughout.
