Chapecoense's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trevor Edwards was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-5 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Trevor Edwards made a kick off. Chapecoense's Altino Faria was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 54th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Rogério Rangel was a little too slow when Trevor Edwards got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 57th minute. The score was now 0-7. Chapecoense's Olívio Severo got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 69th minute Trevor Edwards shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogério Rangel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gondiais's Rogério Rangel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save Gondiais from getting a goal against them. Gondiais's Rogério Rangel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Trevor Edwards in the 75th minute of play. 76 minutes into the game, Bruno Fragoso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gondiais's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chapecoense the free kick. The Chapecoense fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-8. In the 93rd minute, Chapecoense's Trevor Edwards ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Rogério Rangel. Rogério Rangel yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-9.
