Omakeka's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zacarias Maltez was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ryszard Gerlach was the one to do the kick off. Stanislaw Tyszka breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in S.C. Canidelense's zone, Valério Corte-Real stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stanislaw Tyszka came out of the goal and Valério Corte-Real tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Stanislaw Tyszka took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edgar Caiado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
