Nuno Malta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Laureano Portugal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Armindo Barcelos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Nuno Malta made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Armindo Barcelos got free with Nuno Malta in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nuno Malta made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Laureano Portugal sent off a good shot on target. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Reuben Allwright to make the kick off.
