Nuno Pais came out of the goal in the 5th minute to try and stop a shot by Balas F.C.'s Magne Hedman. But to his dismay, Magne Hedman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. A collision led to DPD FC getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Jairo Setúbal hit a great ball. In the 9th minute, Timóteo Fontoura ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nuno Pais was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Nuno Pais took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Timóteo Fontoura, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nuno Pais came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Balas F.C.'s Timóteo Fontoura. But to his dismay, Timóteo Fontoura quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. When Balas F.C.'s Timóteo Fontoura in the 22nd minute got a chance for a shot 22nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye DPD FC's goalie prevented a goal. Matias Aleixo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 28th minute Matias Aleixo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Pais saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Palmiro Ramires's late challenge caught a Balas F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Palmiro Ramires helped the player get up and apologised. In the 35th minute, Krasimir Balakov left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Balas F.C. fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. If Timóteo Fontoura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Matias Aleixo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Matias Aleixo was the one to do the kick off. Balas F.C.'s Nuno Moutinho got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 56 minutes into the match, DPD FC's goalkeeper Nuno Pais had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Matias Aleixo. If Magne Hedman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nuno Pais was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Jamel Belcher showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-7 in the 62 minute of play. 66 minutes into the game, Timóteo Fontoura lined in a short shot 0-8 behind a frustrated Nuno Pais. When Juliano Pinhal came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Balas F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juliano Pinhal couldn't finish the play. Timóteo Fontoura might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nuno Pais. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Timóteo Fontoura ran back to his position shaking his head. After a rather tough play, DPD FC's Belchior Valadares got a free kick in the 80th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Matias Aleixo could shoot a difficult shot in the 81st minute, which Nuno Pais however easily saved by the left post. DPD FC's Nuno Pais played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Timóteo Fontoura in the 82nd minute of play. Timóteo Fontoura could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 87th minute of the match, but Nuno Pais made a huge save. After having played for 88 minutes, Juliano Pinhal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balas F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Juliano Pinhal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, DPD FC's Olavo Vilas Boas got a free kick in the 90th minute. Juliano Pinhal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nuno Pais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Timóteo Fontoura in the 93rd minute of play. Balas F.C.'s fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
