When António Sousa fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored GD Almargense's protests and gave António Sousa a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of F.C. Miguel Poças made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Eiró in the 30th minute of play. A collision led to GD Almargense getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Idalécio Veloso hit a great ball. F.C. Paços de Ferreira's Miguel Poças played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benedito Rebelo in the 35th minute of play. Saúl Zambujal hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, F.C. Paços de Ferreira's Igor Tudor got a free kick in the 45th minute. When the match had been going on for 46 minutes Alexandre Eanes shot a great shot from long distance. It looked like a certain goal, but the audience witnessed a really smashing save by Miguel Poças when he caught the ball only just under the crossbar. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
