After a rather tough play, Rothwell AFC's Udegbulam Adeegbe got a free kick in the 10th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Osunneye Idiege in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Atilola Oke saved Rothwell AFC from getting behind. Afamefuna Achai's late challenge caught a Arnold's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Afamefuna Achai helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Arnold booed when Rothwell AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Afamefuna Achai didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hamzat Ogbo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Mikel Namadi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arnold's Mikel Namadi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Danny Ajao in the 29th minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Rothwell AFC's Hamzat Ogbo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Mikel Namadi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Mikel Namadi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chifo Oyelere, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Sunday Wasiu might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Atilola Oke. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sunday Wasiu ran back to his position shaking his head. Sunday Wasiu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Atilola Oke tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Arnold players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Rothwell AFC were winning 0-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Hamzat Ogbo made a kick off. If Danny Ajao had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alfred Augustine Omorodion kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. A collision led to Arnold getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Zik Iriemi hit a great ball. 57 minutes into the match, Arnold's goalkeeper Mikel Namadi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Danny Ajao. After a rather tough play, Arnold's Zik Iriemi got a free kick in the 58th minute. Danny Ajao sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 63 minutes into the match, Rothwell AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Sunday Wasiu came free, but Atilola Oke reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Atilola Oke showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osunneye Idiege in the 81st minute of the match. Rothwell AFC's Atilola Oke played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sunday Wasiu in the 85th minute of play. Atilola Oke took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfred Augustine Omorodion, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Arnold's goalkeeper Mikel Namadi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Rothwell AFC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
