When Umar Anbalaga came up free with the goalie in the 3rd minute, the Grimsby City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Umar Anbalaga couldn't finish the play. Chukwuma Nwachukwu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Tochukwu Rigogo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 13 minutes, Raphael Kwaghtagher mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Saltaire FC and the Grimsby City players grew even worse after the yellow card. Umar Anbalaga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 14th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 17 minutes into the match, Grimsby City's Umar Anbalaga sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Oyinkan Anwuta narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Tochukwu Rigogo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Warman Adubasim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nwebube Otubusen hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 29th minute, Tochukwu Rigogo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 31st minute, Saltaire FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Umar Anbalaga fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Chukwuma Nwachukwu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ijeawele Etafia came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Saltaire FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ijeawele Etafia couldn't finish the play. When Grimsby City's Umar Anbalaga in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Saltaire FC's goalie prevented a goal. In the 44th minute, Umar Anbalaga fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Oyinkan Anwuta was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Umar Anbalaga showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 46 minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Umar Anbalaga to strike the kick off in the second half. Warman Adubasim made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ijeawele Etafia in the 53rd minute. Grimsby City's Umar Anbalaga got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ijeawele Etafia hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. In the 63rd minute, Saltaire FC's Ijeawele Etafia fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Warman Adubasim was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. In the 71stth minute of the game Chukwuma Nwachukwu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Saltaire FC's Oyinkan Anwuta was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 71 played minutes Saltaire FC got a freekick which was hit by Adebowale Adar. Grimsby City's Umar Anbalaga got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Saltaire FC getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Buch Igu hit a great ball. In the 82nd minute Umar Anbalaga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oyinkan Anwuta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Tochukwu Rigogo kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Warman Adubasim. That made the score 2-1 in the 89 minute of play. Warman Adubasim stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tochukwu Rigogo's shot from short distance in the 93rd minute. When Chukwuma Nwachukwu came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Grimsby City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Chukwuma Nwachukwu couldn't finish the play.
