The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 5 played minutes Ormskirk got a freekick which was hit by Ibeabuchi Yussuf. 8 minutes into the match, Ormskirk's goal looked a bit too open when David Eyiboh came free, but Chuma Abbey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eluemuno Gauyama fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chuma Abbey having to interfere. After 12 minutes, Jerome Ovie mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ormskirk and the Keyworth players grew even worse after the yellow card. Chuma Abbey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Eyiboh in the 15th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dahiru Otere in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nkemdilim Acholonu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Afolabi Ehikwe kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. In the 25th match minute, Keyworth was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danlami Hashimu to maneuver through the defense. If David Eyiboh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chuma Abbey stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Eluemuno Gauyama's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. If Eluemuno Gauyama had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. If Eluemuno Gauyama had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute, Ormskirk's Osaze Pama dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. David Eyiboh received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Chuma Abbey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Eluemuno Gauyama notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Ormskirk's Chuma Abbey. Chuma Abbey was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Osaze Pama was the one to do the kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ifeanacho Ugoh during the 54th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Keyworth getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Ifeanacho Ugoh hit a great ball. Izu Ifesinachi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 55th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nkemdilim Acholonu. Keyworth's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. David Eyiboh fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chuma Abbey having to interfere. Dahiru Otere recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Ormskirk's zone, Eluemuno Gauyama stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Chuma Abbey came out of the goal and Eluemuno Gauyama tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ibeabuchi Yussuf recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 84 minutes into the game, Danlami Hashimu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Keyworth's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ormskirk the free kick. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Keyworth's goalkeeper Nkemdilim Acholonu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Dahiru Otere fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nkemdilim Acholonu having to interfere. After some careless play in the Keyworth defense, Dahiru Otere kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nkemdilim Acholonu. The Keyworth fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nkemdilim Acholonu should have stopped the shot. Ormskirk's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
