After 22 minutes of play, Beckford's Ikpe Okwuono made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chuma Abbey was left in no man's land by his defense there! 26 minutes into the game, Mala Ohuabunwa cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Leonard Onyekweli was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Leonard Onyekweli was a little too slow when Dahiru Otere got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 31st minute. The score was now 2-1. Beckford's Okelola Oliseh suffered a sore foot after 33 minutes and couldn't finish the game. When Mala Ohuabunwa fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ormskirk's protests and gave Mala Ohuabunwa a yellow card for diving instead. After 34 played minutes Ormskirk got a freekick which was hit by Mala Ohuabunwa. Ikpe Okwuono might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chuma Abbey. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ikpe Okwuono ran back to his position shaking his head. Mala Ohuabunwa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Osaze Pama to make the kick off. Leonard Onyekweli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dahiru Otere, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Ikpe Okwuono received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Chuma Abbey tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Beckford's Rashidi Akinyugha got a good chance for a goal in the 73rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Leonard Onyekweli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Osaze Pama in the 75th minute of the match. Ikpe Okwuono could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Chuma Abbey made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dahiru Otere in the 79th minute of play forced Beckford's goalkeeper Leonard Onyekweli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rashidi Akinyugha during the 81st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Dahiru Otere sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Dahiru Otere came up free with the goalie in the 90th minute, the Ormskirk fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dahiru Otere couldn't finish the play. Ibeabuchi Yussuf might have been able to make a better finish in the 94th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leonard Onyekweli. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ibeabuchi Yussuf ran back to his position shaking his head. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ormskirk fans cheered their team off the field, for while Beckford had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
