After a defensive mix-up in Withington FC's zone, Nyongun Emenalo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ikponmwosa Legunsen came out of the goal and Nyongun Emenalo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 9 minutes into the game, Torpoint City's Nyongun Emenalo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ikponmwosa Legunsen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 12th minute, Nyongun Emenalo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ikponmwosa Legunsen was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. Withington FC's Ikponmwosa Legunsen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nyongun Emenalo in the 15th minute of play. The supporters of Torpoint City booed when Withington FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ndubueze Osiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nyongun Emenalo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Olasunkanmi Iyodo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rufus Ajayi having to interfere. Ikponmwosa Legunsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nyongun Emenalo in the 23rd minute of the match. In the 25thth minute of the game Nyongun Emenalo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Withington FC's Ikponmwosa Legunsen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Iloabuchi Ajide received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Ikponmwosa Legunsen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Nyongun Emenalo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iloabuchi Ajide fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ikponmwosa Legunsen having to interfere. After the first half Torpoint City were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Nyongun Emenalo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ikponmwosa Legunsen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Ikponmwosa Legunsen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nyongun Emenalo in the 55th minute of the match. Ikponmwosa Legunsen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ozulu Oyeoku's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. A collision led to Withington FC getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Tobenna Hamma hit a great ball. Withington FC's Ikponmwosa Legunsen proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Withington FC from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nyongun Emenalo in the 72nd minute of play forced Withington FC's goalkeeper Ikponmwosa Legunsen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nyongun Emenalo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a little luck, Withington FC's Ikponmwosa Legunsen got control of the ball when Iloabuchi Ajide tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 78th match minute, Withington FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ndubueze Osiro to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Withington FC defense, Iloabuchi Ajide kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ikponmwosa Legunsen. The Withington FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ikponmwosa Legunsen should have stopped the shot. Iloabuchi Ajide sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.
