Braintree AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Nottingham the free kick. If Gbenga Okoroanyanwu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Otito Ayongo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Gbenga Okoroanyanwu managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 88th minute, Gbenga Okoroanyanwu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Obiuto Ogbodo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. The Nottingham supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Nottingham would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
