Gambo Issah took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Anene Uduehi. Anene Uduehi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. After having played for 11 minutes, Gambo Issah managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Newmarket City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gambo Issah was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anene Uduehi was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Gambo Issah showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 20 minute of play. Gambo Issah's late challenge caught a Hindley City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gambo Issah helped the player get up and apologised. Gambo Issah hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. If Gaiya Affe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Anene Uduehi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gambo Issah, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Hindley City's goalkeeper Anene Uduehi had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gaiya Affe. Anene Uduehi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gambo Issah in the 39th minute of play. Oyedeji Seyi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Toby Obiabo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ime Sunday Gwarbarah kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oyedeji Seyi made a kick off. Oyedeji Seyi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toby Obiabo having to interfere. In the 56th minute the ball was on its way in behind Hindley City's goalkeeper Anene Uduehi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Hindley City booed when Newmarket City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gaiya Affe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Toby Obiabo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Blessing Alasela's shot from short distance in the 62nd minute. Anene Uduehi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gaiya Affe, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ossy Usikalu hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. After 68 played minutes, Hindley City's Nkem Mbabaotu shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Toby Obiabo came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hindley City reached it. In the 69th minute, Blessing Alasela ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Toby Obiabo was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. 73 minutes into the game, Gaiya Affe cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Anene Uduehi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Blessing Alasela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Toby Obiabo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gambo Issah in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Anene Uduehi saved Hindley City from getting behind. When Ike Ologun came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Hindley City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ike Ologun couldn't finish the play. If Gaiya Affe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After some careless play in the Hindley City defense, Gaiya Affe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Anene Uduehi. The Hindley City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Anene Uduehi should have stopped the shot. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Newmarket City had won after a very even match.
