After having played for 3 minutes, Kodilinye Nnaji managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Waltham Cross's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kodilinye Nnaji was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 10 minutes into the game, Afolabi Nwogu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Southsea United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Waltham Cross the free kick. In the 10th match minute, Southsea United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afolabi Nwogu to maneuver through the defense. When Kodilinye Nnaji came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Waltham Cross fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kodilinye Nnaji couldn't finish the play. Kodili Ogbunugwu's late challenge caught a Waltham Cross's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Kodili Ogbunugwu helped the player get up and apologised. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 14th minute of the game. One of Southsea United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Waltham Cross:s goal. When the match had been going on for 16 minutes, Waltham Cross's Isaac Okwaraji got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ettah Iwuanyanwu. Ettah Iwuanyanwu made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Akinlade Ekpiwhire sent off a good shot on target. Southsea United's Ettah Iwuanyanwu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kodilinye Nnaji in the 24th minute of play. After 26 played minutes Southsea United got a freekick which was hit by Afolabi Nwogu. The crowd rose to their feet as Waltham Cross's Akinlade Ekpiwhire slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Ettah Iwuanyanwu. That made the score 2-0 after 27 minutes of play. Southsea United's Afolabi Nwogu got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Madukaego Almu kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. Afolabi Nwogu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Raymond Fujumo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 43 minutes into the match, Waltham Cross's goal looked a bit too open when Dafe Osinuche came free, but Raymond Fujumo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Kodilinye Nnaji made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Southsea United's goal looked a bit too open when Akinlade Ekpiwhire came free, but Ettah Iwuanyanwu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ettah Iwuanyanwu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kodilinye Nnaji in the 58th minute of the match. If Kodilinye Nnaji had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Kodilinye Nnaji managed to get in a good position for a shot. Waltham Cross's supporters rose to their feet, but Kodilinye Nnaji was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ettah Iwuanyanwu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kodilinye Nnaji's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ettah Iwuanyanwu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 65th minute of play. Kodilinye Nnaji received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Ettah Iwuanyanwu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Akinlade Ekpiwhire struck a weak shot in the 69th minute. Ettah Iwuanyanwu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Waltham Cross. If Afolabi Nwogu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Southsea United defense, Akinlade Ekpiwhire kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ettah Iwuanyanwu. The Southsea United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ettah Iwuanyanwu should have stopped the shot. After 77 played minutes Southsea United got a freekick which was hit by Enemuo Baita. Madukaego Almu kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osonduagwuike Okolosi in the 81st minute of play forced Southsea United's goalkeeper Ettah Iwuanyanwu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Akinlade Ekpiwhire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kodilinye Nnaji in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ettah Iwuanyanwu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Waltham Cross had played much better football throughout.
