The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Baba Zeigbo in the 6th minute of play forced Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Bukar Eikhali to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Hornchurch getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Edward Tunde hit a great ball. In the 13th minute Ime Agoro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bukar Eikhali saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ime Agoro in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bukar Eikhali saved Chelsea FC from getting behind. A collision led to Chelsea FC getting a freekick after 15 minutes play. Ejii Godwin hit a great ball. In the 16th minute of the match Tasiu Omeokachie shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bukar Eikhali showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michael Baba Zeigbo in the 20th minute of play forced Chelsea FC's goalkeeper Bukar Eikhali to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Ijeagha Odizor had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bukar Eikhali showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ime Agoro, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Ime Agoro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Udegbulam Adeshina to make the kick off. After 54th play minutes Ijeagha Odizor shot 0-2, a short shot which went by Bukar Eikhali and just under the crossbar into goal. The supporters of Chelsea FC booed when Hornchurch was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Tunde didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eddy Achilike showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chigo Abisogun, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Ijeagha Odizor managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hornchurch's supporters rose to their feet, but Ijeagha Odizor was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bukar Eikhali breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 70 minutes into the game, Ijeagha Odizor recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Bukar Eikhali. Ijeagha Odizor showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-3. Ime Agoro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 75th minute. Bukar Eikhali tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ime Agoro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bukar Eikhali read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. Bukar Eikhali took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ime Agoro, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Hornchurch's Ime Agoro in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Chelsea FC's goalie prevented a goal. When Chelsea FC's Chigo Abisogun in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hornchurch's goalie prevented a goal. If Chigo Abisogun had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
