With an extended leg and a bit of luck Lokon Gwalabe prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Desto's Bola Akinyele proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 15th minute of the match, managed to save Desto from getting a goal against them. In the 17th match minute, Desto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Itimi Adegunte to maneuver through the defense. Lokon Gwalabe showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ogochukwu Esin in the 20th minute of the match. When Lam Okoroanyanwu fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Desto's protests and gave Lam Okoroanyanwu a yellow card for diving instead. Lam Okoroanyanwu kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. Ogochukwu Esin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Lam Okoroanyanwu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Lokon Gwalabe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute Haruna Adedina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bola Akinyele saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bola Akinyele showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Haruna Adedina, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Essien Odemwingie fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 40th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. After a long run with the ball, Essien Odemwingie did a trick in the 45th minute in front of Mullen's goalkeeper, who threw himself to the side. After that it was simple to shoot 1-1. An impressive performance by Desto's Essien Odemwingie! The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

If Chukwumaobim Kwasau had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Desto's Henry Gana slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Lokon Gwalabe. That made the score 1-2 after 53 minutes of play. Desto's Bola Akinyele played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haruna Adedina in the 58th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Henry Gana managed to get in a good position for a shot. Desto's supporters rose to their feet, but Henry Gana was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lokon Gwalabe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Mullen's Lokon Gwalabe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henry Gana in the 65th minute of play. In the 67th minute of the match Desto got a corner. Mullen's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Mojolaoluwa Abugu ran over to the corner to take the kick. Bola Akinyele made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Okwudili Okozi in the 69th minute of play. Ogochukwu Esin's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 72ndth minute, Lokon Gwalabe skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 77th minute, Chudi Owotoki ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bola Akinyele was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. The supporters of Desto booed when Mullen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Onyemachukwu Kolawole didn't get a good kick on the ball. Mullen's Lokon Gwalabe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Itimi Adegunte in the 88th minute of play. After 92 played minutes Mullen got a freekick which was hit by Choice Olukoju. A hard shot by Mojolaoluwa Abugu from long distance, 93 minutes into the match, got Lokon Gwalabe's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chimaraoke Etim in the 97th minute of play forced Desto's goalkeeper Bola Akinyele to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the final whistle sounded Desto left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Mullen.
