In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gold's goalkeeper Jibrin Nnamoko, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Edorisi Akparanta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Erhabor Adelekan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Jibrin Nnamoko made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chukwuemeka Kamuche in the 21st minute of play forced Gold's goalkeeper Jibrin Nnamoko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With 22 minutes on the clock, Olaleye Gbajabiamila commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. If Omamofe Shorunmu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 28 minutes into the match, Edorisi Akparanta had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jibrin Nnamoko. Edorisi Akparanta blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jibrin Nnamoko having to make a save. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind Gold's goalkeeper Jibrin Nnamoko, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jibrin Nnamoko took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ugochukwutubelum Ekpoki, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 38 minutes, Chukwuemeka Kamuche managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lexxan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chukwuemeka Kamuche was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Afolabi Shagari hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. An unexpected shot in the 44th minute by Erhabor Adelekan got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. When Lexxan's Edorisi Akparanta in the 44th minute got a chance for a shot 44th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gold's goalie prevented a goal. 46 minutes into the game, Lexxan's Erhabor Adelekan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jibrin Nnamoko made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0.

When Somadina Omolara fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gold's protests and gave Somadina Omolara a yellow card for diving instead. After 52 played minutes Gold got a freekick which was hit by Somadina Omolara. Erhabor Adelekan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dosu Famewo made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Obiora Akinyugha sent off a good shot on target. Edorisi Akparanta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jibrin Nnamoko having to interfere. In the 60thth minute of the game Edorisi Akparanta who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gold's Jibrin Nnamoko was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gold's Jibrin Nnamoko played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edorisi Akparanta in the 63rd minute of play. Jibrin Nnamoko made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Omamofe Shorunmu in the 64th minute of play. After 73 played minutes, Lexxan's Edorisi Akparanta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jibrin Nnamoko came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lexxan reached it. Chukwuemeka Kamuche blasted a shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jibrin Nnamoko having to make a save. 79 minutes into the game, Lexxan's Edorisi Akparanta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jibrin Nnamoko made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Obiora Akinyugha during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Gold's Obiora Akinyugha got a free kick in the 82nd minute. Jibrin Nnamoko showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edorisi Akparanta in the 84th minute of the match. When Benneth Agbi came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Lexxan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benneth Agbi couldn't finish the play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edorisi Akparanta in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jibrin Nnamoko saved Gold from getting behind. Jibrin Nnamoko didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Omamofe Shorunmu went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. Lexxan's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
