Nebeuwa Onwuzuruike showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ike Abiakam, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. In the 22nd minute, Tolulope Peter fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Nebeuwa Onwuzuruike, passed just outside the right post. Hakeem Omolafe hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. A hard shot by Adenuga Kimitei from long distance, 23 minutes into the match, got Nebeuwa Onwuzuruike's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Jibril Anzigah took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chikwendu Aiyetan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes into the match, Ike Abiakam had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nebeuwa Onwuzuruike. Morecambe's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ike Abiakam was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. When Sylvester Niniola fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Bucknell's protests and gave Sylvester Niniola a yellow card for diving instead. In the 32nd match minute, Bucknell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sylvester Niniola to maneuver through the defense. Ike Abiakam's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nebeuwa Onwuzuruike read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 36th minute of play. Esomchi Abhulimhen's late challenge caught a Morecambe's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Esomchi Abhulimhen helped the player get up and apologised. Esomchi Abhulimhen hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ike Abiakam was the one to do the kick off. After some careless play in the Morecambe defense, Tolulope Peter kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nebeuwa Onwuzuruike. The Morecambe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nebeuwa Onwuzuruike should have stopped the shot. If Hakeem Omolafe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 63rd match minute, Bucknell was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Onoriode Okorowanta to maneuver through the defense. Bucknell's Jibril Anzigah proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Bucknell from getting a goal against them. When Hakeem Omolafe came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Morecambe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hakeem Omolafe couldn't finish the play. After 75 minutes, Chikwendu Aiyetan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Morecambe and the Bucknell players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Morecambe getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Chikwendu Aiyetan hit a great ball. Jibril Anzigah didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Chikwendu Aiyetan went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. The supporters of Bucknell booed when Morecambe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Theophilus Enakarhire didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chikwendu Aiyetan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Morecambe's Chikwendu Aiyetan got a good chance for a goal in the 97th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Morecambe's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
