Lexxan's Dosu Famewo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Lexxan from getting a goal against them. If Erhabor Adelekan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Lexxan's Erhabor Adelekan got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 35th minute, Edorisi Akparanta made a precise shot to the right of Kelvin Omanukwue. Huddersfield City's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. After 40 played minutes, Lexxan's Edorisi Akparanta shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Kelvin Omanukwue came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lexxan reached it. After a rather tough play, Huddersfield City's Samson Agbokhode got a free kick in the 45th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Erhabor Adelekan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Kelvin Omanukwue made a huge save. Thanks to some nice moves Erhabor Adelekan could shoot a difficult shot in the 60th minute, which Kelvin Omanukwue however easily saved by the left post. Ahijah Tukura's late challenge caught a Lexxan's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ahijah Tukura helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Lexxan booed when Huddersfield City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahijah Tukura didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 63 minutes, Erhabor Adelekan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lexxan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erhabor Adelekan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dosu Famewo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nike Adegoroye, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. A collision led to Huddersfield City getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Samson Agbokhode hit a great ball. If Edorisi Akparanta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 73 minutes into the match, Lexxan's Erhabor Adelekan sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kelvin Omanukwue narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Edorisi Akparanta scored 1-2 in the 75th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Kelvin Omanukwue, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nike Adegoroye in the 86th minute of play forced Lexxan's goalkeeper Dosu Famewo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute Bekololari Dauda shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dosu Famewo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bekololari Dauda in the 96th minute of play forced Lexxan's goalkeeper Dosu Famewo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lexxan played a much better game than Huddersfield City and deserved their victory. The Huddersfield City players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
