When Mezie Roro came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Derby AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mezie Roro couldn't finish the play. Dahiru Khumbotso placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! Shola Achebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kodilinye Kofa having to interfere. Mezie Roro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Kodilinye Kofa came out and tried to block the shot, but Mezie Roro slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 23rd minute. In the 26th minute, Shola Achebo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Derby AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Haywards Heath FC's Kodilinye Kofa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Itimi Hananias in the 30th minute of play. Mezie Roro struck a weak shot in the 32nd minute. Kodilinye Kofa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Derby AFC. Mezie Roro might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kodilinye Kofa. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mezie Roro ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 35th minute of the match, Shola Achebo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Kodilinye Kofa was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The supporters of Derby AFC booed when Haywards Heath FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Danny Ekwueme didn't get a good kick on the ball. Shola Achebo did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-0 to the left of a surprised Kodilinye Kofa 39 minutes into the match. Mezie Roro received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benneth Ukefi made a kick off. Danny Ekwueme took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 54th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Manga Lartey. Derby AFC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Nebe Uduehi kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. In the 58thth minute of the game Shola Achebo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Haywards Heath FC's Kodilinye Kofa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Shola Achebo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 71st minute, Bolatito Owomoyela hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 75th match minute, Derby AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Itimi Hananias to maneuver through the defense. In the 83rd minute Shola Achebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kodilinye Kofa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 84th minute, Shola Achebo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
