Chukwuraenye Arumona scored 0-1 in the 11th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Tasiu Onwuzuruike, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Chukwuraenye Arumona's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tasiu Onwuzuruike was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. 20 minutes into the match, Margate's goal looked a bit too open when Chukwuraenye Arumona came free, but Tasiu Onwuzuruike reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 44th minute Ositadimma Olaoye shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tasiu Onwuzuruike saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tasiu Onwuzuruike stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ositadimma Olaoye's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Akubundu Adefulu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Margate booed when Lincoln FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nwoye Omehia didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 95th match minute, Lincoln FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Friday Yadudu to maneuver through the defense. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Lincoln FC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
